The Seven Chakras: A Beginner’s Guide

Simply put, the Seven Chakras are the energy centers in our bodies through which life force energy (prana or chi) flows. According to Hindu and Buddhist tradition, these centers are located along the spinal column and correspond to different areas of the body.  I believe that physical ailments in our bodies can be helped or healed by “opening” the energy chakra which corresponds to that particular area of the body. In this article, we will explore the seven chakras in detail and give you some tips on how to keep them balanced.

What are the 7 chakras? The seven chakras are the energy centers of the body. They are located along the spinal column and correspond to different areas of the body. Each chakra is associated with different colors, elements, and symbols.

The Root Chakra

The root chakra is located at the base of the spine in the perineum area. It is associated with the color red, the element of earth, and the symbol of a downward-pointing triangle. The root chakra is responsible for our feeling of safety and security and primal survival needs. Blockages in this chakra are associated with bowel problems, bladder problems, fear, scarcity mindset and feelings of powerlessness and lack. The Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is located just below the navel. It is associated with the color orange, the element of water, and the symbol of a downward-pointing crescent moon. The Heart Chakra

The Throat Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra

The Crown Chakra

  • Spend time in nature. Nature has a calming and balancing effect on the mind and body.
  • meditate. Meditation helps to clear the mind and allows us to focus on the present moment.
  • Practice yoga. Yoga helps to stretch and open the body, releasing blocked energy.
  • Listen to relaxing music. Relaxing music can help to calm and balance the mind and body.
